Annika Joy Quist
Grant Researcher
Annika first became interested in animal rights at the age of eight, when she realized her dinner came from an animal not so different from her beloved family dog. Later, after seven years of veganism, Annika put her Plant Biology PhD on hold to dive headlong into vegan activism.
Drawing on her background in research, finance, and social impact consulting, she conducts extensive research on each applicantsโ operational effectiveness and potential impact, in addition to monitoring project progress post-funding. When not reviewing grant applications, she enjoys climbing, jigsaw puzzles, and snuggling with her chi-weenie rescue, Ezra.
David van Beveren
Grant Manager
David currently serves as the Grant Manager for CCF, overseeing the grant structure and technical processes, evaluating proposals, conducts interviews, and carries out audits of both financial and organizational structures.
Prior to this, David led a software firm serving U.S. K-12 and higher education institutions that included UCLA, Princeton, and Duke University. Presently, he holds the position of Founder and President at Vegan Hacktivists. David's passion for technology, branding, capacity building, and meta fundraising, is only matched by his love for reading, watching anime, and playing the handpan.
Jim Buckmaster
craigslist CEO
Denounced by the press as an anti-establishment communist and socialistic anarchist, Jim has led craigslist to be the most used classifieds in any medium while maintaining its public service mission, non-corporate vibe, and staff of less than 50. Once homeless with a daily food budget of $1, Jim first went vegan in the 1980s, growing veggies, hand-grinding flour, and making tofu from scratch.
Ridiculously tall and known to some as the blueberry king, Jim enjoys eating whole plant foods, mainlining matcha powder, hiking in nature, being the worldโs most widely read haiku poet, and directing the craigslist Charitable Fund.
